According to the Associated Press, some 1½ miles of recently constructed border barriers near Columbus, New Mexico will have to be removed because they were mistakenly placed on the Mexican side of the border. It could cost as much as $35 million to correct the mistake. In March, U.S. officials discovered that the mile and ½ section protruded between one to six feet into Mexican territory.
